Description Of Work:
I live in a 90 year old home in NW Philadelphia. We Care removed, re-installed and capped 11 windows. In addition, the company installed an environmentally-friendly, energy-efficient skylight partition cover and did a special air condition window installation.
Member Comments:
The owner of the company spoke with me over the phone to arrange the estimate. He arrived on time, spent a considerable amount of time discussing my immediate needs as well as my “wish list”. My questions were answered completely; I felt completely comfortable with the prospect of working with is company (I was somewhat hesitant given a kitchen renovation nightmare). The owner video-recorded the work that needed to be completed, took pictures, written notes as well as digitally-recorded the specifics of the work. We Care worked incessantly to get my work completed. At the time of installation, a crew of six gentlemen arrived on time, worked throughout the entire two days and consistently completed integrity checks to ensure the quality of their own work. It seems as if they have a “critical friends” system in which work checks are part of the job. They worked throughout my house; they were careful to clean all debris and to not damage my art and other household items. The gentlemen were concerned with my opinion and wanted to ensure I was happy with the finished product. In short, you only get what you pay for … this company takes PRIDE in their work and in building customer relationships. I highly recommend WE CARE FREE ESTIMATES! A family owned business, they understand that consumer demand is the highest form of accountability. If quality work and peace of mind are important to you, choose this company. You won’t be disappointed.

We had a minor problem with the door after it was installed and they came right out and corrected the problem. I would use them again in the future.

Also took down white aluminum covering the original cornice on our brick rowhouse and had two missing decorative side pieces (party boxes) rebuilt onto the house out of wood.

Initial meeting with Jim and the quote was reassuring from the start. He video recorded what needed to be done along with a vocal description and then played it back to us just to be sure that he got everything we were looking for. Quote was consistent with all that information as well.<----This does not always happen with contractors! He always called in advance to schedule work and let us know when people would be stopping by or working that day. The work being done on our house was very visible and constantly complimented by our neighbors, who all took brochures. His employees were very polite and consistently cleaned up after themselves. Lastly, the working experience of this company shines as they give lots of reasonable options and recommendations for the project but absolutely no pressure to pick a specific one.

Description Of Work:
Replaced 10 old windows and skylight window with double pane, energy effiecient windows, installed insulated garage door, applied white coat rubber roof, put in new concrete steps as old steps were crumbling, installed FutureRock veneer over deterorating stonework on front of house.
Member Comments:
Jim W. came out to quote me for new windows, replacing my crumbling steps and a new garage door. While he was out he noticed that the rocks on the front of my house were crumbling. I had not noticed this. He was quite right, though. Had the situation gone untreated, it is likely that water would have seeped into my basement over time. After speaking at length with Jim W. I also became interested in recoating my roof with white rubber in order to have the roof reflect heat instead of absorbing it. It was about tme for a new roof anyway and why not try to reduce my cooling bills. I received several estimates on the concrete work and the windows. I already had a good idea about the cost of roofs and garage doors from speaking with friends/neighbors and from checking prices on Angie’s list. We Care’s price came in at a very competitive level versus adding together the lowest estimates for all four projects. Although I might have saved about one or two hundred dollars having four separate firms do the work, I was impressed by Jim W’s professionalism. He gave me a handout of the various work he had done listed by address (including house number) and type of work done. This was not several handpicked references but THOUSANDS! He also supplied a DVD with examples of work done. Jim W. made a video along with narrative pointing out all work to be done along with comments both by himself and me. This was replayed prior to finalizing the quote so as not to leave anything to speculation. The entire project was done in a very thorough manner and to my complete satisfaction. I was always informed in advance when each stage of the project was to commence. Jim W., the owner, showed up regularly to personally check the progress. Any day he did not stop by either phoned or had one of his sons stop by. Several year’s ago, I had a handyman rep, lace my front door. He walked off the job without finishing the framing work. The exterior, while relatively airtight, was unsightly. Jim W. had his window installer cap the outside of the doorframe in order to add to the visual appeal. When I asked how much extra it would be, he informed me that it would be included in his previous quote. In summary, I am very pleased with all aspects of this job and would not hesitate to recommend We Care to friends and family!

The first project with We Care was to recoat my roof with white membrane which is supposed to make it a “green” roof and make the house much cooler and save me money whilst saving the environment. The second project was to repair a leaking deck above one of my bedrooms which had caused me greif over the years with multiple attempts at solving the problem. Both project were done with utmost care and professionalism and was completed in good time. The work was very very satisfying!
Member Comments:
I no longer worry when it rains as Jim W’s crew has done a spectacular job of removing everything down to the joists to get to the bottom of the problem. They gave me a “brand new deck” and I do not regret the amount of money I paid as I now sleep soundly when it rains without fearing that there would be puddles of water when I wake up or when I come back to the house. By the way the ended by also coating the deck with the “green roof” and I am happy as a clam. I would recommend We Care to anybody as he was very professional and listened to what I thought was the problem and him promising to do his level best to solve it. Again I am very happy and am now planning to work on another project with him.

Things went well. However, on one property I did not get the type of window specified in the contract. I wanted rain glass installed, but was given plain glass. When I brought this to the owner’s attention, his response was not acceptable. For this reason, I am not sure if I will use contractor again. If you use him, make sure he sticks to the contract.

Description Of Work:
Two projects: 1) Replacing a 100 year old entry door with a custom fiberglass entry door and new glass storm door; 2) Replacing seven small 100-year old windows and two large 100-year old windows on the third floor of my house along with replacing rather unsightly capping with new, white capping. The window capping was a particularly difficult job given the size and location of the large windows on the third floor.
Member Comments:
Jim W. is the main interface for the sales and customer service part of the job. He comes packed with references and information. As a couple who know very little about the details of doors and windows, we found his technical and aesthetic suggestions very valuable. Plus, I have to admit, I was impressed with the up-front disclosure and the reform-minded ideals. Unfortunately, I have been burned by contractors in the past and it is truly refreshing to have someone be willing to stand up and demand reform of their own industry. Originally, there was Jim’s suggestion that we go with a steel door, but my wife and I felt that we would rather go with the warmer feel of a fiberglass door. I learned that the height of my door was no longer standard (the door world has changed a fair amount sine 1910) and the other companies (4 other companies) I talked to could not offer me a custom fiberglass door to fit my needs. When I talked to We Care about the fiberglass they said they didn’t think it would be a problem with their vendor and we were able to get a beautiful, custom-made door that fits like a glove. James, Jim’s son I believe, was the foreman of the job when everyone arrived. The door crew arrived at 8am sharp and began working away. Everyone was very polite and friendly. They made sure to keep things as tidy as they could and tried their best to ensure my freshly refinished 100-year old pine floors remained as scratch-free as they could. The window crew arrived at 10am sharp and they began their work. James oversaw most of the work, monitoring the work on the door with a very sharp eye. While removing the molding in the interior, some plaster was ripped down. There was apologies all around, but it was not a very big hole and they did a quick patch job (for full disclosure, i have a much larger hole in a different part of the same room that i need to patch up so i did not care too much about this one at all). The job ended around 3pm and everyone shop-vacced and wiped up the interior. Jim W came by to take a look at the door and gauge my satisfaction at some point during the process as well. Overall, I am very pleased with the work. The sales process was pressure-free and engaging, ordering the custom products went off without any issue, the workers were on-time and paid great attention to detail, and the end-result is very beautiful. Regarding price, I do recall their quote being on the higher end of the spectrum of estimates, but given that no one else could come close to actually fulfilling each thing we wanted and that the work was done so smoothly and so well, I consider it a bargain. I am looking for further work on my house, putting up a porch and maybe some shutters, and will be calling them in a few weeks for an estimate on that as well.

I would greatly recommend them. Jim W. was incredible kind to us and was prompt in returning our calls. They did the work in a span of 3 days and always left the place clean. When repairing some of our windows, they went above and beyond what was required and actually put some insulation at no cost along with repairing the small roof above our window. The windows look great and the curb and sidewalk are perfect. At the end of the job, Jim gave us a DVD where they recorded all the work they did which showed that at no point they took shortcuts or did something half way, great company.

Supplied and installed the following: Prep the back shed for installation of a combination steel entry door and aluminum insulated storm door. Installation of a drip cap over the top of door to divert water from sill at base (a chronic problem with the old door). Recapping outside in white aluminum. Inside, replacement of wooden door frame with primed trim. Installation of a heavy duty aluminum insill. Silicone and seal. Secure and caulk. Entry door Energy Star rated, glass insulated. Heavy duty deadbolt and knob lock. Knob lock keyed to take front door key. Installation of new threshold, steel frame, magnetic weatherstripping and all hardware. All work debris was removed by We Care.
Member Comments:
A problem arose when the old threshold was removed to show considerable rot at the underlying joist. This added another day to the installation as they had to repair the damage by cutting away the rot and inserting new wood. I agreed to pay the extra $100 to compensate for the extra work and hours. The new door is well made and has added value to my home. I’ll use the entry door’s Energy Star rating to obtain a tax credit. These guys are skilled, personable, design savvy, and reliable. They installed my front entry door last year and I can’t find any fault with their workmanship and customer treatment. They also seem to have good resources for quality doors in many styles.

We Care tore off all of the old layers of roofing, installed plywood sheathing and shingles. We Care also installed a roof fan as well as repaired and capped off our chimney. We Care cleaned and repaired our back and side stucco walls. They also applied dry-lock to waterproof the stucco.
Member Comments:
We enjoyed working with Jim W of We Care from the moment he came out to give us an estimate. He was courteous and straight forward. Jim W uses a compact digital camcorder to film the roof and everything that is to be repaired. This added to the integrity of the process and added to the credibility of the company in our opinion. He also provides a listing of all of the addresses in the area that We Care have completed work. Once the work began, all of the employees of We Care were courteous and respectful. They consulted with me or my fiancee as concerns or issues arose during the work process. Jim W also came out throughout the process to check on the progress of the project. He would again use the video camcorder to review the work for his employees and to take note of certain things that needed to be addressed (such as a patch on the stucco wall that hadn’t been drylocked). Overall we are really pleased with the finished product. The quality of the workmanship was excellent and thorough! The house looks great!

Member Comments:
It went very well. We Care came out for an estimate. Part of our cornice had fallen down and we were considering a new roof. When they saw the cornice, they said they could start work sooner because they were concerned with the condition (we were, too). We ended up getting the cornice fixed and a great new “green” roof that made a difference immediately. Our house always had a warm second floor and now it is much cooler. They were neat and finished on time. Thanks, Big Jim and crew!

We’ve used them for so many things. I would love to recommend them for the Page of Happiness. They were unbelievably prompt, courteous, always showing up when they said they would and calling if they were going to be late. Their communication is superior as well as the quality of their workmanship. If we had anything that wasn’t quite right all we had to do was make a phone call and they were right there to fix it. I can’t recommend them highly enough. This has been the best experience I’ve ever had with a contractor.

Jim was very professional and prompt. He gave me an extensive list of referrals with addresses so that I could see his work. His prices were competitive. I had made a previous contract with another window company for additional window replacement in my home prior to hearing about him and he was a little concerned because they had a reputation for somewhat shoddy work and he offered to come by when they arrived to check on the job for me, which I thought was very kind of him. I would call him again and recommend him without reservation. Outstanding work!

I must say that this is a most unusual company. From the original contact to the final call backs to make sure everything was done properly, this company sets what should be the standard for customer service and satisfaction. Jim, the company representative made sure that I received an written estimate, noting all of the particulars. He came to the house and showed me the kind of window that I would installed. Saved me a bundle of money by recommended that four of the windows possibly could be repaired and had one of his contractors come and take a look and make his recommendations. Saved me a lot of money. Jim, and his workers really went out of their way to do this job the right way.

Description of Work: Replaced siding on back of three story rowhouse. Each floor juts out somewhat uniquely, so there was a lot of prep work before siding could be put down. Replaced cast iron vent pipe that had been partly imbedded in old siding.

Member Comments: We agreed that with the layout of the house, the workmen would have to come through the house with all their equipment. They were quite considerate and took care to minimize the mess. On the first day, the demolishion crew ripped away most of the old stuff. They were able to get foam insulation up over most of the exposed parts. On the second day, they found that the vent pipe may have been the source of a recurring leak in my kitchen. We decided to replace it, increasing the cost of the job but
leaving me much more satisfied. Jim had his son come off of another job on short notice to do this extra work. He returned on the last day as well to complete the effort. After each day, they would clean up the work area and show me their progress. I was impressed, and it was good to see that the crew cared about their work. Lastly, Jim cares greatly about Mandate To The Mayor. This system promotes disclosure of contracting jobs and benefits honest, good contractors.

Member Comments: Jim W and crew were phenomenal! They are so professional, it almost scares you because you have never experienced anything like it when dealing with contractors. They were so timely and communicated everything appropriately. They went above and beyond on their project and addressed several smaller issues on the side of our house at the same time, because
it was the right thing to do from their perspective. Finally they showed some real creativity when they found a way low cost solution to protecting our bays from the large fire escape. We have never been so happy with a contractor before. We highly recommend We Care! We’ve even found more projects for them, because we like them so much. I would think that it is very true that at least 70% of their work is from previous customers!

His practice of video taping the estimate walk-through guarantees an accurate record and definitely put us at ease. The work crew arrived on time every day and were very polite. Description of Work: We Care was hired to replace 14 windows in our home. The windows were a combination of original  aluminum/wood frame windows and vinyl replacement windows. Capping and caulking needed to be applied to all windows after replacement.

Member Comments: Jim Weigold (the owner) came in the evening, himself, to give us an estimate. He gave us a complete information packet including a DVD about the company. He is a firm believer in “contractor disclosure” and explained that to us fully. We had several other estimates but We Care’s was the best price-wise and attitude-wise. We decided to go with them. The crew arrived within 15 minutes of the scheduled time with one of Jim’s sons (Jeff) running the job. I was told that the job would take approximately
2 days to complete. The crew completed the job in less than one full day. The crew used drop cloths and cleaned up after themselves quite well. When a problem was found with one of the new screens (a small cut), one of Jim’s sons (James) came and repaired the screen onsite. These guys were great! We Care should be the model for all contractors.

Member Comments: It went really well. I had not had a window of this size replaced before, and so I relied on Jim’s judgment to help me choose a bay window. The actual work was done by Justin and one other carpenter. They did a great job. The window and new roof over the window look even better than I anticipated. Even though I kept telling Justin that I’d vacuum up, he got down and made sure that all the sawdust was cleaned up from my house. The house looks so much brighter and inviting (as this is a large window in the front of my house). In a separate job, they replaced 9 other room windows in my house, all the same style as the bay window. They’re beautiful. The house isn’t windy anymore.

He does something I have never seen another contractor do and that is video tape and take digital pictures of the work area where the work is to be performed. He leaves detail instructions for his crew along with the video. So that there is no confusion as to what work should be done. He is also for contractor disclosure. 17 years After The Job Is Completed We Prove That We Care That Our Job
